Archive material and source history

Lou Christie was born Luigi Sacco in Glenwillard, Pennsylvania. He started out singing doo-wop and rock 'n' roll with friends, then briefly joined the Duprees before signing a solo deal with Roulette Records in 1962.

His first real hit was 'Lightning Strikes' in 1962, which got into the Billboard top five. After that came a run of singles like 'Two Faces Have I' and 'I'm Gonna Get Married,' which showed off his high, clear voice and a knack for melodies that stuck. He also recorded 'Beyond The Blue Horizon' and 'How Many Teardrops' around this time.

In the late 1960s, there was some talk about 'I'm Gonna Get Married' and plagiarism claims, though that got sorted out. He kept putting out records through the 1970s and 1980s, and still performed regularly for fans who remembered those early hits.
