Archive material and source history
Lou Martins formed in 1996 in Salvador, Bahia, with three members: Luiz Martins on vocals and guitar, Ricardo Martins on bass, and Ronaldo Martins on drums. They were friends who shared an interest in music and the emerging internet.
In 1998, they released "Bem-vindo a Internet," a song that became popular in Brazil. It mixed Brazilian styles like samba and bossa nova with electronic sounds, and its lyrics talked about the internet connecting people.
They put out a few more albums after that, including "Navegar" in 2000 and "Conexão" in 2002. Some critics thought their music was too commercial, but they kept making it anyway.
