Loucos da Noite

Loucos da Noite formed in São Paulo around 1980, with Arnaldo Baptista on vocals and guitar. Baptista had previously been part of Os Mutantes, the psychedelic rock group that came out of Brazil's Tropicália movement. The band's early lineup included guitarist Sérgio Dias and drummer Ronaldo Leão.

Their self-titled debut album arrived in 1982. The track 'Chá de Cogumelo' became something of a signature song, with its rhythmic pull and lyrics that drew attention. Other songs from that period, like 'Cogumelos Amarelos (Vs. Satisfaction)' and 'Na Bosta da Vaca Catei Cogumelos,' followed a similar thread of psychedelic rock mixed with Brazilian rhythms.

The group's sound and membership shifted over time. Keyboardist Luiz Carlos Maluly came aboard in 1982, and later changes brought in bassist Fernando Deluqui and drummer Ronaldo Fritsch. Baptista remained the constant figure through these changes, steering the band's direction until their activity wound down.
