Louis Cole

Louis Cole started putting out solo work with his 2012 album 'Time,' which mixed jazz, funk, and electronic sounds. He's a drummer from Los Angeles, born in 1988, and his music often feels like it's built from the rhythm up. Songs like 'Thinking' and 'Bank Account' have a clipped, percussive energy that's become a recognizable part of his style.

He's worked with other musicians around the L.A. scene, including Thundercat and Kamasi Washington. With singer Genevieve Artadi, he's recorded as a duo and on tracks like 'When You're Ugly.' They also have a project called Knower, which leans more into experimental electronic territory.

His later albums include 'Quality Over Quantity' from 2014 and a couple of live recordings, 'Live Sesh vol. 1' and 'vol. 2,' which came out in 2016 and 2017. The live sessions capture some of the loose, improvisational feel that shows up in his studio work too.
