Duizend knoopjes en wel honderd kleuren band
Na een jaar of wat kwam ik daar heel toevallig weer voorbij
En ik dacht ik mis een knoopje aan die blauwe jas van mij
Dus ik ging meteen naar binnen waar het dametje weer stond
En ik was niet eens verbaasd dat zij precies zo'n knoopje vond
Zulke winkels zijn er haast niet meer
Met die echte ouderwetse sfeer
Want het geurde naar lavendel tussen zij- en oude kant
Duizend knoopjes en wel honderd kleuren band
Kort geleden kwam ik weer eens door die Amsterdamse straat
En ik dacht kom ik ga kijken of die winkel nog bestaat
Maar de hele etalage was ontluisterd, kaal en leeg
Slechts van binnen op de ruiten hier en daar een witte veeg
En ik proefde daarom des te meer
Weer die echte ouderwetse sfeer
Toen het geurde naar lavendel tussen zij- en oude kant
Duizend knoopjes en wel honderd kleuren band
Vlak daar naast was een cafeetje met de ingang aan de gracht
En ik vroeg is die mevrouw soms naar een rusthuis toe gebracht
Maar men zei die wordt begraven morgenochtend in Oostzaan
En daar ben ik toen heel stilletjes alleen naar toe gegaan
Er was niemand aan de groeve die iets zei
Alleen de dienaar keek wat aarzelend naar mij
Maar de kist lag vol lavendel uitgestrooid met gulle hand
En natuurlijk meer dan honderd kleuren band
