Love La Femme formed in Monterrey, Mexico around 2010, with Montserrat Luna on vocals and guitar, Danny Vazquez on drums, and Alejandro Martínez on bass. Their early shows in the area built a local following with what people described as ethereal harmonies and experimental arrangements. They put out a debut EP called 'Romance Tropical' in 2014.
Their self-titled debut album arrived in 2015, and the single 'Hoy Me Desperté' got significant radio play. That record's sound drew comparisons to dream pop and psychedelic rock. They toured extensively after its release.
In 2017, Luna publicly accused a music executive of sexual harassment, which led to an investigation and legal action. The case drew attention within the industry. Their later work began incorporating elements of traditional Mexican music into their established sound.
