They worked in the 1970s, putting out a debut album in 1975 that included the song "I'm So Glad That I'm a Woman." The track was written by Bette Midler and Barry Mann.
That song became their most recognizable piece. It reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts. The lyrics were seen by some as a straightforward celebration, though the group's existing history mentions it also drew criticism at the time for being openly feminist.
They released two more albums, "Love Limited Too" in 1976 and "Love Is Alive" in 1977, before disbanding around 1978. Their sound drew from rhythm and blues, soul, and pop, with clear nods to the Motown style and gospel music that influenced many vocal groups of that era.
