L'trimm

L'Trimm was a New York electro-rap group from the late 1980s. They're best known for their 1988 single "Cars That Go Boom," which had a simple, catchy hook over a driving electronic beat. The track became a club staple and got heavy rotation on urban radio.

The group consisted of vocalist Crystal Johnson, rapper Lady C, and producer MC Spice. They released several albums between 1988 and 1993, including their self-titled debut and "Trimm Life." Their sound was straightforward dance music with rap verses, aimed at the party crowd rather than the underground.

Johnson's vocals were clear and melodic, while Lady C delivered more rhythmic, spoken-word style raps. The production was uncomplicated but effective, built around drum machines and synth bass lines. They didn't experiment much with structure or lyrical depth, but their tracks worked on the dance floor.
