Luasys formed in Brazil around 2015, a six-piece band led by vocalist Luiza Vargas. Their music pulls from alternative rock and electronic beats, with some Brazilian folk touches. They put out their first album, Luz, in 2017, followed by Eclipse in 2019 and Aurora in 2022.
Early on, some critics found their sound hard to pin down and called it pretentious. In 2018, their song Ilusão got caught up in plagiarism claims that were later dismissed.
The band includes Vargas, guitarist Eduardo Said, bassist Thiago Elias, drummer Rafael Pereira, keyboardist Lucas Lima, and cellist Ana Luiza.
