Luauê

Luauê formed in São Paulo in 2004, with Gabriel Souto on vocals and ukulele, Gabriel Moura on cavaquinho, and Rafael Gomes on percussion. They started playing small venues, working with Brazilian folk styles like chorinho, samba, and bossa nova.

Their song 'Choro do Menino' came out in 2012 and became their most recognized track. It's a melancholic piece about a boy missing his mother, built around a simple, haunting melody. Other songs like 'Do Porto Pro Mar' and 'Estação Verão' show their range within those Brazilian folk traditions.

The band's lineup has changed some over time, but Souto's voice and Moura's cavaquinho work remain central to their sound. They haven't chased mainstream pop trends, sticking instead to the acoustic textures and rhythmic patterns that define their music.
