Luaz formed in 2009 when André Barcinski, Rafael Castro, and André Fontenelle started playing together. They took their name from the Portuguese word for moonlight. Their first album came out in 2011, called "Araciandê," which included the song "Araiandê."
Their music includes tracks like "Aram," "Eu Talismã," "Flora," and "Mandala." They've released other albums with different approaches, one with psychedelic elements called "Oriente" and another with samba rhythms called "Ilumina." Barcinski handles vocals and guitar, Castro plays bass, and Fontenelle is on drums.
In 2015, there was some discussion about similarities between their song "Canoa" and another Brazilian composition. They said they'd written it independently.
