Her debut album 'Se Me Olvidaba' came out in 1975, followed by records like 'Corazón de Papel' in 1976 and 'Colorín Colorado' in 1978.
Her 1986 album 'Enamorada' included the title track that became one of her most recognizable songs. Other popular recordings from her catalog include 'Mi Amor, Amor' and 'Se Acabó.' She faced some criticism for being open about her sexuality but continued performing through various phases of her career.
Mendez worked with musicians like Roberto Cantoral as musical director and Luis Carlos Monroy on keyboards.
