Archive material and source history
Luciano Pinheiro is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Fortaleza. He started playing guitar and writing songs early, drawing from bossa nova and folk traditions. His debut album came out in the early 1970s, sharing its name with the track "Águas Tranquilas."
That song became his most recognizable piece. He kept recording through the 1970s and 1980s, putting out albums like Palavras ao Vento in 1974 and Doce Encontro in 1981. His work sometimes drew criticism for being too sentimental, but it found an audience anyway.
Pinheiro took a break from recording in the 1980s after some personal difficulties. He returned later, releasing O Sonho Não Acabou in 2003. On stage, he has been backed by musicians including guitarist Paulo César Barros, bassist Sérgio Carvalho, and drummer Caio Pinheiro.
