Lucky Boys Confusion formed in Los Angeles in 1991 with vocalist Kira Roessler, guitarist Matt Schwartz, bassist Chris Davis, and drummer Adam Begosian. Their sound mixed punk, funk, and ska, which felt loose and energetic rather than carefully polished.
In 1999 they put out their debut album 'Spy Vs. Spy,' which included the single 'Anything, Anything.' That song caught on and gave the band some mainstream attention. Roessler's lyrics and stage presence drew criticism in some quarters, and there were a few canceled shows, but the record's momentum carried them for a while.
After DreamWorks Records went bankrupt in 2000, the band lost their label deal. They kept going and released 'Chasing the Sun' in 2003 and 'The Curse of Greatness' in 2007. Those albums didn't reach the same commercial level as the debut, though they had their moments. By 2010 the group went on an indefinite hiatus, with Roessler and Schwartz continuing to work separately.
