Lucky Jim

Lucky Jim was a Berlin-based rock band that formed in the mid-2000s. Their sound pulled from psychedelic rock and post-punk, with some world music textures mixed in. The band's most recognizable track is probably 'Almeria,' which has a haunting, atmospheric quality that caught people's attention.

The group was led by vocalist and guitarist Jim White, who kept a fairly low public profile. They released their first album, 'El Dorado,' in 2007. Later records like 'La Paloma' and 'The Edge of the World' continued in that experimental vein, touching on folk and electronica at times. Other songs in their catalog include 'Endless Night' and 'Hallelujah.'

Lucky Jim's lineup included bassist Marc Lieske, drummer David Müller, and keyboard player Florencia Ochs. The band's preference for anonymity and White's introverted approach meant they never quite broke through to a wider commercial audience, despite the steady interest in 'Almeria' and their other work.
