Luiz Carlos e Santiago

Luiz Carlos and Santiago came from Muzambinho, Minas Gerais, and started making music together in the early 1980s. Their 1991 debut album 'Rio Negro e Solimões Homenagem' brought them wider attention in the sertanejo scene. They recorded songs like 'Caboclo Valente' and 'Carro a Prestação' that became familiar to Brazilian listeners.

Luiz Carlos handled much of the singing and lyrics, while Santiago played guitar and also sang. They worked together for decades, putting out more than twenty albums. In 2006, Santiago was involved in a legal dispute over songwriting credits, which they eventually resolved.

Luiz Carlos died in 2017. Santiago continues to perform and record, sometimes revisiting their older material like 'Fulo do Samba' and 'Gesto Lindo'.
