Luke James grew up in New Orleans, where his father played jazz and he sang in a church choir from age eight. He listened to Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Prince as he got older. His first single, "I Want You," came out in 2012 and did well on the Adult R&B chart. That led to his self-titled debut album in 2014, which included the song "Dancing In The Dark."
He has put out two more albums since then, "Whispers in the Wind" in 2018 and "To Feel Love/d" in 2021. Other songs like "Exit Wounds" and "Make Love To Me" show his range. He has worked with other artists including Ty Dolla $ign and BJ the Chicago Kid.
