Lukie D

Lukie D is a Jamaican reggae singer from Clarendon who started performing at local talent shows and church choirs. He took his stage name from his birth name, Luke Dayes. In 1986, he released his debut album 'Listen to the Music,' which included the song 'Missing You Like Crazy.' That track became his most recognizable work, a straightforward ballad about longing that connected with listeners.

His style drew from reggae singers like Dennis Brown and Gregory Isaacs, mixing soulful delivery with pop melody. He worked with the Treasure Isle Band, which included drummer Sly Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare. Other albums followed, such as 'Forever Lukie D' in 1988 and 'Sweetest Reggae' in 1992.

Later in his career, Lukie D faced some legal troubles and personal setbacks in the early 2000s, but he kept recording. He put out 'Rasta Child' in 2008 and has collaborated with artists like Beres Hammond and Maxi Priest. His music stays focused on emotional themes, often about heartbreak, delivered in a clear vocal style over reggae rhythms.
