Lukim

Lukim formed in Mexico in the early 2000s as a four-piece band with Alejandra Guzmán on vocals and guitar, Rebeca Lane on bass, Cesia Sanz on drums, and Carla Sariñana on keyboards. They put out six albums that worked within Mexican rock while addressing topics like domestic violence and sexual assault in their lyrics.

Their song 'Él No Es Tu Dueño' became particularly well-known, speaking directly to issues of toxic masculinity. The band's live shows developed a reputation for high energy, though their straightforward approach to these subjects sometimes drew criticism from more conservative listeners.

Beyond recording and performing, Lukim has worked with organizations focused on women's rights and gender-based violence. Their music continues to be associated with these conversations in Mexican culture.
