Lùnapop formed in Turin during the mid-1990s. Their 1999 debut album 'Squerez' included the single '50 Special,' which became a major hit in Italy. The band featured Cesare Cremonini on vocals and guitar, along with Alessandro De Simone, Nicolò Cesaro, and Paolo Costa.
They followed up with 'Vespa 50 Special' in 2000 and '...Squérez?' in 2001. Songs like 'Vorrei' and 'Un Giorno Migliore' maintained their pop sound. Cremonini left the group in 2002, which effectively ended the band's run.
Their music, particularly tracks from that first album, still gets played on Italian radio. It's that straightforward pop from a specific moment that people remember.
