Luxo da Bregadeira

Luxo da Bregadeira formed in 2009, drawing from the music of Recife, Brazil. Their sound mixes forró with funk and electronic beats, anchored by Soraya Ravenle's vocals, Lucas Mendes on guitar, Pedro Lucas on accordion, and Thiago Costa on bass. They put out their first album, Nota Dez, in 2012, which included the track of the same name.

Later records like Luxo in 2015 and Cabaré in 2018 kept working with that blend of traditional and contemporary styles. Songs like Balança Balança and Bate Bumbum No Chão show their rhythmic, danceable approach. Some of their lyrics have stirred discussion, but they've kept making music that pulls from Brazilian roots without sticking strictly to older forms.
