M (Visual Kei)

M formed in 1997 around vocalist Mana, who also wrote lyrics and composed music. They were part of Japan's Visual Kei scene, known for its theatrical style and androgynous presentation. The band released albums like 'Ash' in 1998, 'Stigma' in 1999, and 'Café Le Psyche' in 2000.

Their songs often dealt with themes of love and loss, sometimes with a darker edge. Tracks like 'Kamisama Wa Inai' and 'Wakaku Te Itai Haru No Naka' show their range, moving between haunting ballads and more intense rock arrangements. The lineup at one point included Kami on guitar, Tetsu on bass, and Sitara on drums.

M's visual presentation and lyrical content sometimes drew criticism for challenging conventional norms in Japanese society. They kept releasing music through the early 2000s, putting out 'Avalon' in 2001 and 'Mademoiselle' in 2004. Songs like 'San' and 'Suna No Kokugen' continued to explore emotional territory with their distinctive sound.
