Maax Dingodile formed in 2012 with Ethan Stone on vocals and guitar, James Wright on bass, and Alex Harper on drums. Their sound pulled from industrial, electronic, and post-punk, creating something atmospheric and a bit difficult to pin down. The single "Dust" from 2013 is what most people remember, a track that built a following with its haunting, cryptic quality.
They followed up with an EP called "Hollow" in 2015 and a full album, "Oblivion," in 2017. The album dealt with themes of isolation, and its reception was mixed, some found it artistically deep, others found its tone overwhelmingly bleak. The band did a brief tour for it, but things didn't hold together. By 2018, Maax Dingodile announced an indefinite hiatus.
For a group that was only active for about six years, they left a specific impression. Songs like "We Have Reached A Limit" and "H.I.M" share that same dense, shadowy atmosphere as "Dust." There's not a huge catalog, but what's there has stuck with a certain audience that gravitates toward that kind of sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
