Macaco Serevino formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1993 with vocalist Ricardinho Oliveira, guitarist Buzzo, bassist Fernando Queiroz, and drummer Fabrício Araújo. Their music mixed Brazilian rhythms with reggae grooves and lyrics that often touched on social issues. In 1998, their album 'Pé no Chão' brought them wider attention, particularly the track 'Eu Tenho Essa Cara de Anjo,' which connected with listeners across Brazil.
They released several more albums over the following years, including 'Desordenado' in 2000 and 'Na Quebrada' in 2002. Other songs like 'A Outra Versão de Mim' and 'Eu Incomodo Gente Feia' became part of their setlists. The band's lineup changed at times, though Oliveira remained the consistent frontman.
In 2005, Oliveira was arrested on drug possession charges, which affected the band's public profile. They kept recording and performing, putting out albums like 'Quem Tá Mandando' that same year and 'O Fogo na Cabeça' in 2008. Their later work included the 2013 release '15 Anos' and 2016's 'Agora.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
