Macano is a Colombian tropical music group formed in the early 1990s in Arjona, Colombia. The band is led by vocalist José Alberto 'Macano' Maldonado, who started the group with his brother Jorge on bass and childhood friend Rigoberto Osorio on accordion. Their early focus was on local festivals and small gatherings around their coastal hometown.
In 1995, the band's single "Te Amo" became a hit in Colombia, helping establish their presence. The song appears on their debut album "A Primera Hora" from that same year. Other notable songs in their catalog include "Besame," "Por Que Me Mientes," and "Yo quisiera vivir."
Macano's music blends vallenato with merengue and salsa elements. Their lineup has included guitarist Javier Alarcón and drummer Oscar Serrano alongside the core members. In 2017, they released the album "Sin Fronteras."
