A steady trio from northern Mexico that mixed rock, Latin rhythms, and hip-hop across two decades of albums.
For a quick sense of their sound, put on "Chica Nacional" and "Sabes." That's the whole vibe right there.
Machaca's sound never fit neatly into one box. Their best-known track "Chica Nacional" has that Monterrey bar-band energy, but you can hear the Latin percussion and hip-hop phrasing in songs like "Sabes" and "Estoy Con Vos." They were just a consistent three-piece doing their own thing.
They formed in Monterrey in 1999 with Memo Ibarra on vocals, Chema Ibarra on drums, and Sebas Garza on bass. The lineup stayed the same through their debut "Somos Machaca" in 2002, then albums like "La Nueva Era" in 2006 and "El Gran Plan" in 2016.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
