A Portland band that kept making guitar-driven records without much fanfare.
For their sound, start with 'On and On' from that first album. Later tracks like 'Raincrest' and 'Never Get In' show they kept working after everything.
Their 2009 debut 'Somewhere in Between' introduced a sound that never tried to dress things up. Songs like 'On and On' and 'Could it Be' show the straightforward quality they settled into early. They've continued putting out records when they had material ready, including 'The Day the World Changed' in 2012 and 'Everything But the Girl' in 2015.
The band formed in 2006 when Jake Braun started working with bassist Aaron Quick and drummer Chris Gwin. They released their first album three years later and kept at it through the 2010s, playing shows and recording when they could. In 2017, Braun faced sexual misconduct allegations that the band acknowledged publicly at the time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
