Madame Bruta

Madame Bruta was an all-female Brazilian punk band active in the 1980s, led by singer and guitarist Creusa. They formed during a period when Brazil's punk scene was growing, and their presence as a group of women in that space was notable. Their debut album from 1982 included the track 'Se Você Não É Bruta Ainda,' which became associated with feminist themes.

They released several albums through the decade, including 'Quem Tem Medo de Madame Bruta?' in 1984 and 'Mandala' in 1986, which incorporated some Brazilian rhythms into their punk sound. Their lyrics often addressed social issues, and they faced some criticism from conservative quarters at the time. The band disbanded toward the end of the 1980s.
