Madame Raposa formed in 2005 in Rio de Janeiro with vocalist Thaís Ribeiro, guitarist Aurélio Dias, bassist Juliano Lázaro, and drummer Pedro Santos. They released their debut album 'Noite de Sangue' in 2009, followed by 'Nação Zumbi' in 2012.
Their song 'Puro Ódio' from that second album became particularly well-known. The track's lyrics addressed political corruption and social inequality in Brazil, delivered with Ribeiro's intense vocal style over a mix of punk, rock, and Brazilian folk elements.
The band's direct approach to social commentary through their music drew both strong support and criticism. They continued performing and recording with this uncompromising musical stance.
