Madre Tequila formed in Los Angeles around 2010 with Ashley Dzerigian on vocals and rhythm guitar, Melissa Matos on lead guitar and vocals, Christine Hamel on bass and vocals, and Jazmine Quintana on drums. Their debut EP came out in 2013, featuring the song "Bond Girl."
That first EP got some attention for its themes, which touched on female empowerment and sexual liberation. The band followed it up with a 2015 album called "Empress" and another album in 2018 titled "Ashes to Ashes." They also have a song called "Cartão Postal."
