Madrug

Madrugada formed in Stokmarknes, Norway in 1993, with Sivert Høyem on vocals and guitar, Robert Burås on guitar, Frode Jacobsen on bass, and Jon Lauvland Pettersen on drums. Their sound drew from classic rock like Pink Floyd and Neil Young, but felt distinctly their own, moody, spacious, and anchored by Høyem's brooding baritone.

Their debut album Industrial Silence arrived in 1999 and brought them wider attention, especially with the track 'Freakin' Out.' They followed it with The Nightly Disease in 2001, which included the song 'Eternizado,' a slow-burning ballad that became one of their most recognizable pieces. The band kept recording through the 2000s, putting out Grit, The Deep End, and a self-titled album in 2008.

In 2007, guitarist Robert Burås died, which changed the band's course. They eventually returned to recording and released Chimes At Midnight in 2019, more than a decade after their previous studio album.
