Archive material and source history

Madruga & As Madruguetes formed in Oporto in 1994 with Pedro Ayres Magalhães on vocals and guitar, Sérgio Sousa Pinto on guitar, Vasco Araújo on bass, and João Lazão on drums. Their first album, 'Madrugada,' came out in 1996, but it was the 1998 follow-up 'O Passado e o Presente' that really connected with people. That record had 'Declaração' on it, a ballad that became their most recognizable song.

Some listeners found their music too dark or morbid, and there was talk about their lyrics being pessimistic. They kept writing anyway, putting out albums like 'Os Dias da Fúria' in 2001. Other songs in their catalog include 'Fear Of The Light' and 'God Of Fire.'
