Mago do Brega formed in Recife, Brazil in 2004, led by vocalist and accordionist Nena Queiroga. They blended traditional brega with electronic dance music, a combination that drew some early skepticism. Their debut album was called "Só Pra Quem Tá Com Pressa."
Their song "Desce Rebolando" became a popular track. The band's lyrics sometimes addressed social and political topics, and their stage shows were known for being flamboyant. Other albums included "Pequeno Dicionário Brega" and "Festinha dos Encrenqueiros."
Besides Queiroga, the group included Diego Carlos on synthesizers, Ronaldo Lopes on bass, Cláudio Costa on drums, and Léo Lira on backing vocals and percussion.
