Maj Karman Kauniit Kuvat

Maj Karman Kauniit Kuvat formed in Helsinki in 1999, bringing together Kimmo Pohjonen and Timo Kaukolampi from the experimental rock band Kuusumun Profeetta with bassist Mikko Karjalainen and drummer Jan Anderzen. They started releasing albums in the early 2000s, beginning with Kauniit Kuvat Kehyksissä in 2001 and following with Salamaannos in 2003.

Their 2009 album Aavasaksa, which shares its name with one of their top songs, brought them more attention. That record's atmospheric sound and introspective lyrics connected with listeners, though their experimental approach has sometimes drawn criticism alongside praise. In 2012, they released Ukkonen, another album title that appears among their most recognized tracks.

Their music incorporates post-punk, psychedelic rock, and electronic elements, with Pohjonen's accordion and keyboards adding distinctive textures. Songs like Metallisydän and Sarvia Ja Hampaita show their blend of driving rhythms and atmospheric arrangements. They've continued releasing music through the 2010s, including Hiljaisuus in 2016.
