Background notes

Archive material and source history

Mal Abuso formed in Bogotá in 1995 with Andres Cepeda on guitar and vocals, Felipe Muñoz on bass, and Ronald Gaitan on drums. They put out their first album, 'Made in Colombia,' which mixed rock and pop with some Colombian rhythms.

Their song 'Vientos de Ensueño' got some attention for lyrics that some people thought were about drugs, though the band said it was just a love song. They kept making records like 'No es lo Que Parece' and 'Abrázame' that dealt with ordinary stuff like relationships and trying to figure things out.

Eventually Cepeda went off to do his own solo work, and the other two moved on to different projects. The band doesn't seem to be active anymore, but you can still find their music around.
