Archive material and source history

Malignant Eternal formed in 1994 with Mike Browning on vocals, Derek Engemann on guitar, Jason Blachowicz on bass, and Alex Bouks on drums. They released their self-titled debut album the following year, and put out records fairly steadily through the 1990s and 2000s, including 'Retribution' in 1997 and 'A Wrack of Flesh' in 2006.

Their song 'Daemon Song' is one of their better-known tracks, along with 'Far Beneath The Sun' and a cover of Iron Maiden's 'The Number of the Beast'. The band's lyrics and album artwork sometimes drew criticism for being explicit or graphic.

While rooted in extreme metal, their sound incorporated elements from doom and atmospheric black metal over time. Their most recent album was 'House of Horrors' in 2019.
