Mammoth WVH

Mammoth WVH is the project led by Wolfgang Van Halen, who handles vocals, guitar, and songwriting. The band includes bassist Ronnie Ficarro, drummer Frank Sidoris, and keyboardist Jon Jourdan. Their self-titled debut album arrived with songs like 'Don't Back Down' and 'Distance,' the latter featuring a collaboration with Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Wolfgang's father was guitarist Eddie Van Halen, and that connection inevitably shapes how people hear the music. The track 'Distance' was written as a tribute after his father's death, channeling personal loss into the work. It's a heavy rock sound built on guitar riffs and melodic hooks, avoiding any attempt to directly replicate the Van Halen band's style.

They've kept things fairly straightforward since starting out, playing live and releasing music without much drama. The focus stays on the songs themselves, like 'Resolve' and 'Think It Over,' which fit comfortably within modern hard rock without leaning on nostalgia.
