Manollos formed in São Paulo in 1998 with Rodrigo Amarante on vocals and guitar, Marcelo Camelo on bass, and Fred Ferreira on drums. Their debut album 'Little Electric Chicken Heart' came out the following year, built around acoustic arrangements and straightforward lyrics. The song 'Fim de Um Tempo' became their most recognizable track, a quiet ballad that caught on with listeners in Brazil.
After Camelo left in 2002, Amarante and Ferreira continued as a duo. They put out three more albums, including 'Mil Coisas Invisíveis' in 2005. Their later work drifted toward more experimental sounds while keeping the spare, vocal-driven quality of songs like 'No Final' and 'O Outro Lado.'
They signed with a major label at some point, which drew criticism from some fans who saw it as a shift away from their independent beginnings. The band hasn't released new music in years, but their early recordings still surface occasionally on Brazilian radio and streaming playlists.
