They made one of those late-90s British albums that still gets talked about in certain circles. 'Attack of the Grey Lantern' had a particular sound, prog rock ambition filtered through Britpop's immediate hooks. The single 'Wide Open Space' became their calling card, a track that felt both expansive and oddly claustrophobic.
Mansun formed in Chester in 1995 with Paul Draper on vocals. Their debut arrived in 1997, but guitarist Dominic Chad and drummer Andie Rathbone left the following year. They released two more albums before disbanding in 2003.
