Manuel Marcano was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1965. He started singing salsa early on, and in 1991 he joined Orquesta Dimensión Latina. His voice had a certain power that fit well with the band's sound, and he began building a reputation as a vocalist.
He went solo in 1995 and released a few albums. In 1997 he put out "Pídele Perdón a Otro," a ballad that connected with people in a way his earlier work hadn't. The song became his signature piece, the one most listeners know him by.
There was a legal dispute in 2005 over the songwriting credits for "Pídele Perdón a Otro," which created some complications. He kept recording after that, putting out albums like "Mil Años" in 2005 and "50 Años Contigo" in 2017.
