Archive material and source history
María Gabriela Epumer was born in Buenos Aires in 1963. She started writing songs early, drawing from Argentine traditions like tango and folklore, and was influenced by artists such as Mercedes Sosa and Violeta Parra.
Her debut album came out in 1992, simply titled 'María Gabriela Epumer.' It introduced songs like 'Señorita Corazón,' which became one of her best-known tracks. The record established her style, introspective and emotionally direct, and was well received.
In 2005, she released 'María Gabriela Epumer canta a Violeta Parra,' a tribute to one of her influences. Other songs from her catalog include 'Ah! Te Vi Entre Las Luces,' 'Ángel,' and 'Canción Para Los Días De La Vida.'
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, but kept working. Her later albums, like 'Amar en Silencio' from 2008, continued her path of personal songwriting.
