Marcela Fernandes grew up in Itirapina, São Paulo, and started singing in local choirs before going solo in the late 1990s. Her first album, 'Além do Monte,' came out in 2000, and its title track became a hit. She's put out several more records since then, including 'Estranha Beleza' in 2004 and 'De Pé no Chão' in 2009.
In 2009, she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that affected her voice, but she worked through it with therapy. She's been outspoken at times, criticizing government policies in 2018. Her band includes Ricardo Silveira on guitar, Fernando Corrêa on bass, Alex Peruchi on drums, and Paulo Rafael on keyboards.
She's collaborated with artists like Ney Matogrosso, Caetano Veloso, and Maria Bethânia. Other songs of hers include 'Novo Tempo,' 'Sou o Teu Deus,' and 'Tua Resposta.'
