Marcela Milagres came up in Salvador, Bahia, where she grew up around samba, axé, and MPB. Her debut album in 2009 was named after its title track, 'Eu Te Amo,' which caught on quickly with its direct take on love and longing. That song, along with others like 'Lembre-se de Mim' and 'Pra Sempre Te Amarei,' helped define her early sound.
She has been open about dealing with anxiety and self-doubt, especially as attention grew after that first album. In 2018, she acknowledged using unauthorized samples in a song called 'Tudo o Que Eu Queria,' which led to some public discussion about her process. Her music since then has continued to draw on the straightforward emotional language of tracks like 'Preciso de Você.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
