Marcelo Benjá formed his band in 2015 with Guilherme Souza on bass and Fabrizio de Carvalho on drums. Their debut single 'Meu Mundo' became a hit in Brazil, topping charts for weeks with its blend of pop, rock, and reggae elements.
That song, along with tracks like 'A Festa Do Futebol' and 'Até O Amor Nos Pegar,' helped establish Benjá's presence in Brazilian music. He's released several albums including Meu Mundo in 2015, Novo Ciclo in 2017, Liberdade in 2019, and Ciclos in 2021.
Some critics questioned the commercial direction of his music, but Benjá maintained that his songs reflected his own experiences. The band's sound draws from the diverse musical influences of Rio de Janeiro, where Benjá grew up surrounded by rock, reggae, and samba.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
