Marcianos Crew came together in Medellín around 2000, with Juan Diego Gallego, known as Pitufo, as a central figure. They started working with porro, a traditional Colombian dance music built on brassy melodies and syncopated rhythms, and began mixing it with electronic beats and other styles. Their track 'Porro' became something of an anthem for them.
Their sound pulls from hip-hop, reggae, and funk alongside the porro foundation, and their lyrics often touch on social issues. They've put out albums like 'Marcianos Crew Internacional' in 2008 and 'Porro Electrónico' in 2010. Collaborations with other artists appear on songs like 'Fuck Competi' with C.R.O and Homer El Mero Mero, and 'Perdiendo El Tiempo' with Duki and Homer El Mero Mero.
The group has played festivals outside Colombia, including Coachella and Glastonbury. The current lineup includes Pitufo on vocals and tambora, Andrés Correa (Andrecito) on keyboards and accordion, Juan Pablo Villa on guitars, Juan Manuel Mejía on bass, Juan Manuel Arango on drums, and Julián Marín on trumpet.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
