Márcio Moreira

Márcio Moreira started playing music in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1960s with a band called Os Canarinhos. His debut album came out in 1972, featuring the song 'As Cores das Flores,' which became widely known in Brazil. He kept recording through the 1970s and 1980s, putting out albums like 'Clareira' in 1974 and 'Odara' in 1985.

His music drew from samba and bossa nova, but also incorporated rock and jazz elements. Songs like 'Armação' and 'Blues de Acabar' show that range. He worked with musicians including Zé Roberto on guitar and Claudio Bertrami on bass, and sometimes collaborated with other Brazilian artists like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.

In 1982, Moreira was arrested on drug charges, though he was later acquitted. Years later, in 1999, he got into a copyright dispute over 'As Cores das Flores' that took several years to resolve in his favor. He kept writing and performing through those periods, with tracks like 'Em Paz' and 'Pedra Em Flor' appearing in his catalog.
