Marcos Freire is a Brazilian singer-songwriter who came up in Juazeiro do Norte. His music draws from the local church sounds and forró rhythms he grew up around.
In 2003, he formed the duo Black to Black with vocalist Gabi Sampaio. They released a debut album called "Santo Forte" that year. The group built a following in gospel circles with their direct, faith-centered lyrics.
Freire's 2014 single "Vencedor (CHAMPION)" became his breakout track, featuring Sampaio and the Coral Black to Black. Other songs like "Farás Outra Vez (Do It Again)" and "Glorioso" followed a similar anthemic, declarative style.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
