Marcos Lessa was born in 1956 in Fortaleza, Brazil. He started writing songs as a teenager, and his debut album 'Moa' came out in 1983. The title track became a national hit, with its melody and imagery about a mystical bird catching people's attention.
He kept recording through the 1980s and 1990s, putting out albums like 'Viajante' in 1985 and 'Mar' in 1993. Some of his other songs include 'Contrassenso' and 'Entre o Mar e o Sertão'.
He continued working after that, releasing 'Made in Brazil' in 1996 and a compilation in 2001.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
