Marianne Rosenberg

Marianne Rosenberg started singing professionally as a teenager in Berlin. Her first single, "Fremder Mann," came out when she was fifteen. A few years later, she had a major hit with the song "Er gehört zu mir." That track, along with others like "Cariblue" and "Für immer wie heute," helped define German pop radio in the 1970s.

Her 1976 single "Cariblue" became particularly well-known. It's a ballad that stayed on the charts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for a long time. The song's straightforward melody and direct lyrics about a complicated relationship seemed to connect with a lot of listeners at the time.

Over the decades, Rosenberg kept recording. She put out more than two dozen studio albums and worked with other German singers like Udo Jürgens. Her music from the seventies, especially, remains a familiar presence on oldies stations and compilation CDs.
