Mariano Cardenes

Mariano Cárdenas started writing and performing songs as a teenager in Guadalajara. His album Sueños de Amor came out in 1992, and it included the song Tengo mil palabras, which became his most recognizable track.

He kept recording albums like El Amor de Mi Vida in 1995 and Con el Alma in 2000. In 2004, there was a legal dispute over song rights, but he continued making music afterward with albums like Punto de Partida and A Corazón Abierto.

His band was called Los Cardenales, with guitarists, bassists, and drummers. The music drew from traditional Mexican folk influences alongside international sounds he heard growing up.
